Raised & educated in Northern California, Ryan has called Asia home for 9 years.

Ryan went AWOL from the US Army and got a degree in Peace Studies then took to nature and wildlife photography in Hokkaido, Japan. He now draws on his diverse experiences to do independent documentary photography projects.

Ryan spends lot of time getting his shots right "in camera" and very little time post-processing.

Ryan has taken photos for 11 books and held solo exhibitions at the Fuji Film Salon, The Foreign Correspondents' Club of Thailand, and the Nikon Salons in Tokyo and Osaka.

When not working on projects or teaching photography workshops he enjoys working on his adobe house in northern Thailand and brewing ginger wine.

Ryan is available for editorial and commercial assignments throughout Asia
